Al's Parodies About Movies

Post by RunningWithScissors »

(I'm still pretty new here so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed).

I was just curious, whenever Al writes a song about a movie, he uses a "Classic" song. Even Lola was pretty old when he started preforming Yoda. But all the others, The Saga Begins, Jurassic Park, and Ode To A Superhero were all parodies of songs that were pretty old. Do you think that was meant to be or just kinda happened?

I think it just kinda happened. There is usually one "classic rock" type parody, and on MF it was the CSNY style parody. And, for example, Theme from Rocky XIII is straight-up parody.

I didn't think about Theme From Rocky XIII, but that's a tad different, because, it's about a 'fake' movie.

But yeah, you are probably right about just happening. :)

"Gump" was a parody of a contemporary song.

Then theres that legendary original song he wrote for his own movie "UHF". Oh god, I want to hear them do that live.
