I got this box set of four discs on Dec 31 from HMV in Queen Street (Brisbane) and I'd like to know if anybody else has it as well.

it's a good compilation of his best ones and I recommend it. So anybody got it?

Yeah. It could have fit on three discs though.

Can you suggest how it could fit on three discs? Four is a good numbers - three is too little, five is too big - four is just right.

Well, he could've fit it on 27 discs, but he thought that was a little too excessive

Permanent Record rocks. The booklet is worth the purchase price alone.

The 50 tracks would have fit on three discs, so the fourth is unnecessary.

Possible but as I mentioned earlier, four is a nice even number. Three is too small a number - five is too big, twenty-seven is too big - four is perfect.

Although being on three discs probably would have meant a smaller box...

I love Permanent Record. Though I can see why it would be a huge expense for someone who already had the studio albums. I got it early in my collecting, so it enabled me to have some of the best songs before I could locate the Studio album. The booklet is wonderful.

I don't include PR in the "Cheezy Compilation" group because it really is a good representative work of his entire career up to that point. I'm hoping that the CC that is included in Al's new contract will be an addendum to PR, and not just another Greatest Hits or Theme compilation. And I'm hoping for another booklet also authored by our favorite demented musicologist.
