The booklet is awesome, and makes PR a worthwhile purchase even if you already have all the songs. I think I mentioned this somewhere else but you can save some money by buying the cassette version, and of course you still get the book.

I got this for my birthday literally just months before it went out of print. Whee.

I ended up using the booklet as a source for my research paper on Weird Al.

Haha, I did a book report of it for library class earlier this year... I'm pretty sure I got a good grade on it, also.

If it's out of print because the original artwotk can't be found, couldn't a new cover be designed? Or couldn't the artwork for Greatest Hits Volume 2 be used, and superimpose a "Permaneant Record: Al in the Box" title card over the "Greatest Hits Volume 2" title?

It's different dimensions, and the resolution would be messed up.

I'm sure that they could have found a way to keep it in print and with the same artwork, but at this point it's out of date and barely stocked in CD stores anymore so they probably didn't think it was worth the effort.

I was thinking yesterday that maybe a follow-up set could be made, featuring the best songs made after Permaneant Record, but then I realised that there have only been four studio albums since then, so it wouldn't be enough without repeating content from Permaneant Record, or just packaging the last four albums together in one four-disc set.

I like the cassette version better then the CD since it has the bathroom version of my bologna, the CD version doesn't. even though it is listed, the book is like an updated version of the authorized al.

The CD version is supposed to have the bathroom recording but there was an error on initial copies. A repressing fixed it, but of course I got my copy as a gift as a little kid and had no idea there was anything wrong, so I never got the proper version. :(

I was wondering if The Permanent Record box set was worth buying. I have all Al's song but was wondering if I should get it because of the booklet and other features it has.
