The more pressing question--will the support of two of Lorne Michaels' prodigies be enough to finally score Al the SNL gig? (The last two seasons had a larger-than-usual sampling of hosts pulling double-duty and also serving as musical guest...come on, NBC!)

Never, SNL is terrible and Al would be doing himself a disservice by coming anywhere near that show.

So my question is: would the Emmy performance help or hurt Al's chances of landing a Superbowl gig (assuming they don't go through with their idiotic plan of making musicians pay to perform)?

It probably helped, but that doesn't mean much, his chances of landing a Superbowl gig before this were less than zero, now they're probably SLIGHTLY less than zero.

Right. Al hosting 90 minutes of nationally televised sketch comedy would be a huge disservice to his career.
