Have all those artists listed in this thread actually recorded anything? What's the overall expected timeline of release given the current progress?

Artists that I have written down as agreeing to record something include: TV's Kyle, Kobi LaCroix, The Gekkos, Bob Ricci, Worm Quartet, Carla Ulbrich, Luke Ski, Insane Ian, MC Frontalot, MC Lars, Devo Spice, Steve Goodie, Raymond and Scum, mc chris, Marc with a C, Nuclear Bubble Wrap, Rycehat Dino-Mike, and Lager Rhythms.
About eight of those people have at least a rough mix of their song. The others are moving sort of slowly. We're hoping to have every song in by late January to early February. So, we're aiming for a March release, but we'll see. Albums take a long time to make.

Regarding the subject of an album cover for the upcoming Al tribute CD...
Are photo's that we, the fans, taken of Al in concert copyrighted, or are they property of the person who took them? I'm sure there's plenty of us on this board who would be willing to allow the use of one of their Al concert pictures to be used on the cover.
If that can't be done, then there's several members here who have donated artwork to the Star Fund and the Make The Rock Hall Weird campaign, who I bet would be willing to draw something up for the cover. If I could draw better, I'd be willing to do it.

We have artists to draw things in mind. I just needed ideas, because we're not allowed to use any image of Al, real or drawn on the album artwork. Thus, I have no idea what we could be doing with that bit of important imagery to work with.

Jay Levey is a little overprotective, huh?

Do something with the number 27, or 26 1/2, that involves imagery from Al's songs or the associated Weird Al culture.

Re: "Twenty Six and a Half" - A new Weird Al tribute album
A few ideas:
- The image of an accordion lying on a table, with a Hawaiian shirt draped over it, a spatula leaning next to it, and/or a hamster crawling on it.
- A parody of the "AL-TV" logo, with "26" replacing "AL" and "1/2" replacing "TV" (either the full-sized logo, or the image with those spinny aliens and the flag, though presumably the flag on the cover would be much larger)
- Since it's going towards the Star Fund, a fake Walk of Fame Star with the album title in place of a person's name, and an accordion (instead of the traditional film camera/TV set/record/microphone) in that circle in the middle. For reference, here's a pic of a Walk Of Fame star.
- Does anyone have any large group pics from AL-Fest that specifically don't include the Al standee? Because that's who's making this album, the fans.
- Nick Nolte's mug shot.

Re: "Twenty Six and a Half" - A new Weird Al tribute album
So, Jay will let us use pictures of Al on Star Fund mugs and bumper stickers, and artist renderings of Al for the Star Fund, but won't let pictures of him or drawings be used for this album, which will be sold to benefit the Star Fund?
