At September 2nd's Nashville show, Jim said "How about some Zeppelin?" and they played Whole Lotta Love.

I've been reading this board for quite a while, and decided to post.

Just found this thread and saw that drctx posted that Al did "School's Out" at the Ft Worth show (Al just kind of looked at the crowd b/c everyone was screaming so loud & he couldn't understand them). Had I been closer, I would have shouted my request, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot, but with so many people screaming, he wouldn't be able hear me. BTW, if you're at an upcoming show and close to the stage, shout out this song... let's see if they know it! ;) :P

Al and TBITB singing Gordon Lightfoot...

That would be as awkward as Toby Keith doing a Metallica cover.

...BUT FUNNY!

Naw... BBOTIM is already halfway there. I think Al and the guys could do any genre of pop music believably.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I think the key elements of these request songs are an excuse for Jim to play some cool guitar riffs and for Al to show off his rock vocal talents. Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald doesnt really meet those criteria.
This means something. This is important.

I think you'd have to look long and hard for a song the guys don't know. And could play well and convincingly. However, you don't really think these songs are random do you? I mean, Al is only taking this spontenaity thing in well planned and rehearsed doses.

He is a perfectionist at heart, you know.
