Steve's Best Bass Playing

Post by Ratbert197 »

I really beleive that Steve (what a guy!) did a real great job on Your Horoscope For Day. If you listen closely you can hear some great bass work going on. What do you think?

I think he's awesome. I also love the bass work on Rabbi.

I agree with Steve himself, "Toothless People."
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

As a bass player myself, I look at Steve Jay as one of my mentors. He seems to be capable of mastering any style of bass playing, and the intricacy and expertise expressed in his playing never ceases to amaze me.

I'm impressed by just about all of Steve's work, but I have a few particular favorites: Dare To Be Stupid, Grapefruit Diet, Wanna B Ur Lovr, Genius In France, every single polka (especially Bohemian Polka), Talk Soup, Your Horoscope For Today (one of my favorites to play along with), Trigger Happy, The Saga Begins, and Frank's 2000" TV.

Oh i forgot about Grapefruit Diet!! Curse me! That bass playing is brilliant! The way he picks and slaps at the strings is very very skillfull of him. BTW, i suggest you all buy a copy of Self Avoiding Random Walk to find alot of fantastic music by Steve.

The WBUL bass parts don't sound too far off from the stuff that Steve plays on his own. From the few clips I have heard anyhow.

I know I've posted this link before, but I love this interview.

I found more links, some I don't understand but the musicians out there might....

The basswork on UHF is impressive too. I like just focusing in on the bass on Fun Zone.
