The Lincoln Memorial is 100 feet tall. From the Capitol Building, it's 1.9 miles away, somewhere around 25 blocks, depending on what you count as a block. So for argument's sake, let's say this is the situation in the song. On a clear day, you can see the Lincoln Memorial from the Capitol, but it's kind of tiny so watching it would be tough.

Another problem would be the sound. Sound travels about a mile per second, so, in this case, you'd be hearing things about 2 seconds after they happened. Then again, he just said he could watch the Simpsons, not necessarily hear it as well.

So to answer the question, yes you could watch it from 30 blocks away, but you probably wouldn't have any idea what was going on.

Well Dingo did say it was a headphone song :P

This is the reason why Al never posts here...no really, that's some pretty cool info.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wonders about this stuff.

I think Frank's 2000" TV is one of the most clever TV-written songs by Al in a while. And by a while, I mean Ricky.
BUT it doesn't exclude Cable TV, Can't Watch This, UHF (another brilliant one), Bedrock Anthem, MFN/BH, Talk Soup (er, one of the weaker songs on Alapalooza), Here's Johnny, The Brady Bunch, I lost on Jeopardy, Couch Potato, Jerry Springer or any other TV song I missed.
The Office: NBC, Thursdays at 9.
If you're not watching, you're doing yourself great injustice.

Isle Thing.
I am gone until June, as a result of the Junior Cert, a very large exam.

modular was just adding Isle Thing to the list of tv songs that moab posted. I love that song, too. If there isn't a topic for Isle Thing yet, there should be. Anyway, I also love Frank's 2000" TV!

4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

There is a topic on Isle Thing. Scotti may want to add it to the song sticky.
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!
