Ack! You got it, MarlinsGirl. Nicely done!

Yes, those gizmos are called a lot of different things, which is what made searching for them a bit more difficult. The gym wheel is also called the German gymwheel, the Gymnastic Wheel, or the "Rhoenrad".

The wheel was developed by Otto Feick -- a German man who came from a region in Germany called "Rhön". Therefore the original name of the wheel is "Rhönrad" ("-rad" = German for "wheel").

Hope that helps!!

Well, there you have it, SailorBarsoom, not one but five names were found for the thing. Seven, if you count dealie and gizmo. Aren't we a helpful bunch?

This has been an extremely impressive display of power research. Can you imagine what kind of an Annotated Al we could put together if we all put our minds together?
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Terri, you're a goddess!

You guys are incredible! Thank you all so much for helping me out with this. Now I can sleep at night...

P.S. It looks like a Japanese manufacturer is selling it for 190,000 yen (about $1800), plus I'd still have to buy bindings. *sigh*

I should've known, all the coolest toys are expensive. At least I know what the heck it's called now, and maybe I can figure out how to make one.

Thanks again,
Jenn
