Just found this interesting.... Spike Jones' "Hawaiian War Chant" provided the new section of the Yoda Chant for the SOL tour, more or less.

Actually. this segment was added to the chant on the Poodle Hat tour, but still, good find there, Steve!

Now if you were able to find the "source" for THIS section of the chant (that wasn't on the PH tour and was indeed added during the SOL tour) I would be VERY impressed!

You guys know that Spike Jones didn't actually write the Hawaiian War Chant, right?

Yet, I think it's accurate to say Al was inspired to add that to the Yoda chant by Spike Jones.

I think that's a probability.

I just wanted to make sure you guys knew he didn't write it, though.

I think he was inspired by Spike Jones and Jim West. There's a chunk of Steve Jay's "Big Shoes" in there, so what better way of balancing things out and including Kimo than by putting in a famous hapa haole song?

As I mentioned, this is the chunk of Steve Jay's "Big Shoes." It's phrases from an African language (Djerma, I think) that Steve picked up when he was studying drumming in Africa right out of college. I asked him once, and he doesn't remember what it means. He just picked it because it sounded cool. Now where's the newest stuff in the chant? Besides Frere Jacques and the Haunted Mansion song, of course.
