He was thinking of writing a parody of the song "Time In A Bottle" by Jim Croce.

I've never heard Al's version, but I have heard the original. It's a pretty good song.

Well, the song was a hit in Dec. 1973, and I doubt if Al would have written it before that... So assuming that Al was very timely, I would figure he wouldn't have written it before Jan 1974...

*does the math* He could have written it when he was 15. But considering it was in the setlist in 1982, I am assuming it was written about that time so he was more like *does the math again* 23 years old.

And since it was still in the setlist as late as the In 3D tour, it's safe to say he wasn't ashamed of it.

I have heard this song. I like it. The intro is longer than the song itself though! When Al announces that he's going to do a love song, everyone in the crowd starts yelling "Rocky Road!" And then the accordion comes in, and the audience seems confused. But when he says the first line, everyone cheers.
