You're definitely just hearing someone from the audience. Listen with headphones and crank it up - Al goes silent.
Yes, you have a point.

However, after he says it, the whole crowd makes a shocked sound... :P

But actually, now that you mention it, you can hear someone else singing at other parts of the song. So you're probably right. But I dunno.

My whole problem with the polka story is that the sound effects were never meant to drown out the rest of the audio a la a censor beep. The proof is that one can still hear the music when the noises go off in other performances of the song or on the album. All other sounds don't just suddenly go mute when the "boing!" happens.

And logistically, it would be cumbersome to rig a microphone to automatically turn off when a split-second sound effect is being played elsewhere on the stage (remember, Al's on accordion, so he can't flick the switch himself), so I can't imagine Al would believe it was safe to go ahead and say the word directly into a mic thinking a sound effect played behind him on either a keyboard or sequencer that he knows is mixed to be quieter than his vocal would absolutely drown him out.

The Lazenby, I think Al's #27 Fan was responding to what you said about him possibly hearing someone from the audience say that word. Apparently, he seems to think the crowd reacted. This person must have been kinda loud, OR no one said the word at all, which is what I believe, since you said you didn't hear anything.

It makes me think about what's really going on in Al's head...
It makes me think he's a normal person.

I live in San Francisco right now. You'd be shocked to hear what 8 year olds are saying.

You should hear what I said to my father over the phone after he disrespected my mother. The only word i think I didn't use was the N word.

I would hope Al is normal.

You swore at your father? I could never do that, and I'm 46 now.

But, yes, people swear at times. I just don't believe Al would during a concert. Not using that word.

Like I said, Al didn't, but a whole bunch of people in the audience did.

But since no one cares about those nameless individuals (this is Weirdalforum.com, not Profaneaudiencemembers.com), what they do is beyond our control and shouldn't matter. ;)

Ah, so the audience members did swear? Ok. Now it's all clear.

Well, now that we know Al didn't, I guess this wraps up the discussion, eh?
