I've actually just been contacted about "Greetings From Burgeropolis 2", and it would be in my best interest if it did NOT get released. Trust me on this.
I was also told that if we chill out about leaking demos all over the place, that more legitimately-released goodies may be in order... but that's all I'm saying.

If that means an official, legal, mass-produced rarities collection:
If it just means more tracks dripping out one at a time via some Dr. Demento rip-off package:

Just for the record, no one has ever contacted me about "Burgeropolis"... I was always concerned that Bermuda at least would be pissed off over that. But there weren't any real revelations there (except maybe "American Slob"); I just basically gathered everything already available in one bundle.

My problem is spending $35 (or $15 a month or whatever it is) for ONE song I would be interested in. I don't listen to other Demento music so for a single lo-fi Al demo...maybe "rip-off" was a bit harsh, but it's definitely excessive.
But an authorized, all-Al collection of rarities--bring it on! Half of the Placebo EP as well as "School Cafeteria" are still missing on CD, not to mention the stuff that hasn't been released yet. What they should do is re-release the debut album with all those tracks (and now that Permanent Record is out of print, toss in the Placebo "Happy Birthday" and Capitol version of "My Bologna" too).

When did I say I don't laugh at other funny music? It's not all about the humor; Al is musically and lyrically by far the strongest in the genre. If I'm just looking for jokes, I can listen to a stand-up routine.lestatkatt @ March 23, 2009 08:55 pm wrote: So you don't laugh at other funny music? My sincere condolences to your sense of humor.
As far as the Placebo EP not being released, only one song is left....Mr Frump. The other Demos Have been released, and Bus is on the 1st LP/CD, so you don't have all the facts.
I'm well aware about AORTB and "Happy Birthday" being on Permanent Record. But as I stated above, I have no interest in the Dr. Demento Basement Tapes, so the fact that the Placebo "Gotta Boogie" has been made available on one of those is of no value to me and the 95% of Al fans who don't buy those.
The real fans of the show will support it, and be rewarded with a demo or early live performance on the show on most of the CD's.
You're always stepping on landmines when you make comments about what "real fans" do. Either way--I'm a Weird Al fan, not a Dr. Demento Show fan.
That's a shame about "Pacman" though; I'm a big Beatles fan and I've always thought it was possibly the strongest of Al's early unreleased songs. Maybe Al could appeal to George's son if he was interested in getting it out there to the masses (of course, legally he wouldn't have to, but still).

I'm also in the camp that doesn't really give a damn about comedy music outside of Al.
I actually own "Dr. Demento's Dementia Royale" LP (which I bought because of the Capitol 'My Bologna' on it), and when I tried to play it all the way through, I just got disgusted and turned it off. Nearly every track (except Al's) was about weed... not funny to me.
