Yeah, some new songs! I suppose he's having fun being on TV shows and doing voice work, but I hope that Al will get back to creating more music even if he doesn't have the pressure of meeting contractual obligations. Comedy music is what you do best, Al. :inlove:

I suppose it's worth mentioning in this thread that Al basically announced a 2019 tour that will be yet again different from previous tours.

I didn't even see the post before yours, so I thought it was a standalone comment, not a response :imstupid:

Anyone attending these early shows who gets to meet Al should ask him about this 2019 tour plan. Would love to know what he has in mind, or at least get a clue!

He said in the most recent Comedy Bang Bang podcast that he isn't at liberty to speak about it yet, so I doubt he'd give out any details to us just yet.

It's not a journalist's job to ask the questions that the subject WANTS to answer. The journalist must pressure the subject to answer the very questions they are avoiding.
Eventually, we will get a clue. :detective:

This is pure speculation on my part but if he's not at liberty to discuss it, if it's yet again different still even after such a different routine as a stripped down deep cut tour, and he's made no statement that truly confirms or denies whether progress has been made with the musical...

Can anyone actually confirm it's not a touring musical?

Let's address the time he said something that seemed to deny it.
He said (and I admit I paraphrase) that he's glad that both he and Lin-Manuel Miranda only want to pick a musical concept that is a 100% strong fit for both of them. I've noticed that plenty of people interpreted that statement as "We haven't found the right concept yet." Unless I misrecall a keyword, to me it sounds like spinning around information out of secrecy. It didn't confirm or deny that they picked something. He's just affirming that Lin-Manuel wants it to be a 100% fit. He could say that within moments after meeting Lin-Manuel for the first time, he could say it at a Tony Awards acceptance speech, or say it in a blog post about how rehearsals and casting have been coming along.

It means whatever you want it to mean. It's a spin.

BUT maybe I misheard or misrecall. So can anyone get me a source where I can reread/relisten to that quote?

Either way, do we have any reason to believe he's not doing the musical next year?
