Some of the sites I designed are:

http://www.bakernorthrop.com
http://www.mikecondello.com
http://www.cinemasmith.com

Simple but effective stuff really. If a client needs something more intricate, I suggest they consult the nearest 10-year-old.

Very nice job! You obviously have the knack for web design.

But still ... don't take this wrong, but ... don't quit your day job ...

... ever ...

... please .........

BTW, Jon, where did you acquire your programming skills:

-- Taught by a friend who's a computer whiz

-- Took a course in it

-- Messed around and experimented on your own [self-taught, more or less]

I know it wasn't at college, because when you and I were in college, the only computer classes around were in Basic, Fortran, and Cobol -- and the only way to get data in was with [shudder] ... punch cards!! Yipes!! :nervous:

I started learning html in 1995, from a book, when such books were still fairly short and digestable. Now they're thicker than the bible!

But when I was in school, I learned some basic Fortran, started to explore Assembler, Compiler, and Cobol (and Snobol.) Basic was just starting to happen, and I think APL was on the horizon as well. I remember the stacks of 80- and 120-hole cards for data entry & running programs.

To put it in perspective for the under-30 crowd, a 4-function calculator had just broken $50 barrier, and a multi-function scientific HP or Texas Instruments calculator was about $900. You can get a more powerful, smaller unit now for about $15.

html seems so simple by comparison, and I still code from scratch (in WordPad.)

One more reason to be in awe. WSYWYG for me! Actually, I am very slowly learning html but there is no way I could do it from scratch.

And Bermuda, I have to agree with Dr. Dad... Don't quit your reAL job. Not that you couldn't make a living doing the webmaster stuff (or anything else you put your mind to,) but Weird Al without Bermuda would be like a jellybean sandwich without the pickles.
