I'm loving the newer comments I've been seeing on the video for this song, claiming that it's a parody of "Consider Yourself" from "Oliver". We all know some youtubers can be stubborn about their comments, but I actually had no trouble convincing one that it is just a coincidence that "Sports Song" and "Consider Yourself" sound alike. I think once I told him that Al said that it was done in the style of a college fight song, plus even if it was a style parody, or loose parody of "Consider Yourself", he would have mentioned it. One of the more pleasant experiences I've had with a youtuber. It is kinda funny that they sound alike, being that "Consider Yourself" is such a positive song.

I'd love my favorite college sports team to play this song.

I like this song. It's different, being a style parody of college marching bands than a particular artist.

Shame Al didn't do it live

It would be pretty tough to do live. Part of what makes this song what it is, is the marching band music/set up. And as talented as Al and the guys are, I don't think the five of them, would fully be able to create that on stage, even with backing tracks.

They could pull it off, but it would rely too much on backing tracks, which would account for basically the entire instrumental. Think of it as Whatever You Like v2

Since Al seemed pretty adamant about not using backing tracks on the next tour, songs like this are definitely unlikely to be played in the near future.

Nah, no more stormtroopers. From now on Al requests a high school marching band

Wait, is there somewhere he mention no backing tracks? I actually would LOVE that. He and the band are so talented, they really don't need them. The only thing they are doing is making the song sound "closer to the album" when performed live, which isn't necessary.
