Does Al mean it, "(for example) 'I could care less'", or "Like I could care less" as a whole phrase? Same joke either way, but still curious as to how others interpret it.
It's pretty obviously "like "I could care less" ". Why would you even think otherwise?

I disagree. He leads into that line with "I hate those word crimes." He then elaborates on that statement by using "I could care less" as an example of one of the hated word crimes to which he's referring. The "like," as Anth said, is a stand-in for "such as."

Alicia is definitely right though. We're putting way too much thought into this.

No mellow weasel, I understood what you meant in your post, don't worry.

And thanks, everyone.

For the European tour, he has dropped the lines:

Saw your blog post
It's really fantastic
That was sarcastic (Oh, psych!)
'Cause you write like a spastic

I hate these Word Crimes
Your prose is dopey
Think you should only
Write in emoji

I understand, as in the UK, spastic is a derogatory term.

Probably to maintain the rhythm.

Yeah, if they kept the second verse, it would completely throw off the rythym. In fact, one of the first nights they did the change, Bermuda kept drumming past the end of the music, where they all sing acapella "Word Crimes" to end the song.

Hmm, that's pretty interesting. He probably doesn't want to say your prose is dopey to people with accents as well, but all these lines are on the ALbum so I really don't think anybody would find it weird or offensive at all in the end. In fact, if they know the song well, which they probably do, they are probably saying to themselves, "did he skip a couple lines?", or, "I think he forgot some lines at the end".
