Okay, I knew it would get better but jeez, that is the best set of the entire tour, right there.

Okay, I'm gonna keep this one brief (brief for me, at least) since I have to be up early tomorrow, which is why I unfortunately couldn't attend the Parallel Universe show.......

Tonight was my 21st Weird Al concert (and Heather's third), and I got to see Al actually play guitar and Steve's face turn into a tomato. And they didn't play Good Enough For Now (hey, we asked nicely......)

They played for TWO HOURS tonight! When they started Albuquerque I looked at my watch and it was already 10:18....no way were they gonna squeeze that, the medley, a cover and Yoda into the next 12 minutes, so they just kept going!

First time seeing Nature Trail, UHF, Larry, Young Dumb & Ugly. All were well-taken. The lighting on Nature Trail was amazing. Yes, Al commented that they played both songs with hidden messages.

There were absolutely no repeats from last night aside from the parody medley. There were a lot more repeats from Tarrytown though.

This was the only of the 3 shows this tour I had floor seats, and I was eye to eye with Al. It was nice actually being able to see the whole band on stage for a change. Steve was using his upright bass quite a bit tonight, even on Albuquerque. For those keeping score, there was 1 bass solo and 2 drum solos.

Before My Own Eyes, Al went into a long story about last night's show. When they left the stage for the encore, Steve was acting star struck. He said that he saw Dave Grohl sitting in the front row, and they HAD to come back out and play My Own Eyes in the encore. Al agreed to this, even though he didn't notice him. So when they came back out, Al scanned the front row and didn't see Grohl, so decided to revert back to the planned encore. After the show, Steve started complaining about why Al backed down on playing the song, and Al said "dude, he wasn't here. You're imagining things." and Steve insisted he WAS still in the front row. So Al told Steve to go out there and find him, and if it really was Dave Grohl, invite him back stage. So a couple minutes later Steve came back with a guy who only vaguely resembled Dave Grohl. Al knew it wasn't really him, but came over to shake his hand and skeptically asked "Dave?" and the guy looked confused and said "uh sure Al, I'm Dave.....nice to meet you". Now Al knew for sure it wasn't him, because he's met the real Grohl before. So the moral of the story is if you want to sneak backstage to meet me, Steve's your guy. Throughout this story, Steve's face just kept getting redder and redder.

For the cover song, Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl, Al actually played electric guitar on it! Not very well, mind you, but he said one of his projects over the last year was to finally learn the instrument and said this would be the first time he was playing it in public. That was pretty cool to see.

Alright guys, it was fun. Time to go back to lurking until the next time they come to the northeast!

This is precious. I'm cracking up

That's amazing! I remember Steve pointing someone out in the crowd during the encore that night; the context of what was happening is hilarious!

The Dave Grohl story was hilarious! Steve was so red and Jim and Bermuda were doing everything they could to stop themselves from bursting out laughing. Couldn’t see Ruben but I would think the same. Steve mentioned that he saw Benjamin Franklin in the audience last night!

One thing that I didn’t see mentioned yet was that at the end of Emo’s set, Al came out with the hook and dragged him off stage!

What a night. Everyone here always capture the shows so well there's not much for me to add but this...we shot over to Steve and Jim's solo show last night and Steve added a bit to that story. Steve said it was the best mistake he ever made because the Dave Grohl guy said "I thought you asked me to come backstage because I'm married to Sting's daughter". Steve is a huge fan of Sting so he gave the guy a few of his CDs that he's gonna leave on Sting's piano for him...

Oh and one more thing, during the guitar solo of Young, Dumb, and Ugly Al took his phone out and took a picture of the crowd and then one of each of the guys in the band and after the encore the guys took a bow together but then turned around with their backs to the crowd and did it again while someone on stage snapped a picture of them with the crowd in the background. It was a really awesome moment and you could tell how much they appreciated playing at the Apollo.
