Its quite plain from the commentary that TWAS was never originally pitched as a kids show at all but was originally intended for a high school to university aged audience. Too many compromises and adaptations meant it ended up a shadow of what it could have been. It's still a lot of fun though, but in it's original form I guess it just wasnt so family friendly

I thought Al said he wanted to have it from ages 11 and up in the commentary?

I remember when it first aired, TWAS was on at the same time slot as "Pinky and the Brain" in my town. Hardest decision of my young life.
Kids WB didn't do any live action shows...honestly, though, who needs the networks? Ever since I first saw it, I ALWAYS thought The Weird Al Show belonged on Nickelodeon. Nick has always had a negative stance on "educational" shows - they wouldn't even put "Dr. Floyd" on the air because it was TOO educational. It really wasn't the "kiddie" factor that was weighing Al down - we all know he can work clean. It was the educational objectives, and the Imitatable Behavior BS.
