WOWAY 10 years : Memories
Today, WOWAY exists for 10 years!. Of course this is a huge accomplishment for a website. Not much websites make it for 10 years and all thanks to you, the visitors.
I think people have a lot of memories or stories from the past and I was wondering what these stories are. Obviously I'll start.
Not much people know how I started this forum. Back then, in 2001, I was just starting with websites and I just became fan of Weird Al (songs like "You don't love me anymore" are really helping if the girlfriend is cheating on you). I ended up on the website of weirdal.com and I just didn't like it. So, I mailed the webmaster of Weirdal.com offering him to make a new website because I thought I could do it better. Big surprise when Bermuda actually mailed me back explaining why the website was very basic. Bermuda told me I couldn't remake weirdal.com, but if I managed to make an unique website, he's willing to put up a link on weirdal.com. And that's how weirdalforum was born! Bermuda loved the idea and also joined the forum (and Ask Bermuda was born). Also Weird Al was kind enough to provide a picture so I could use it and within a week the forum was growing quicker than expected and grew out what it is today.
My greatest memories are my first flight (ever) to the USA and the topic which was created on weirdalforum.com and how everybody was enthusiastic when I finally was there. I won't forget that anymore.
Not a great memory, but it was a beautiful moment. The death of Mary and Nick Yankovic. The website weirdal.com went down very soon but weirdalforum.com kept on running to provide information (and even mirrored weirdal.com for a while).
Another memory was the first "downloadable" release which weirdal.com coulnd't handle (You're pitiful) where weirdalforum.com was one of places to download things.
I have a lot of moments which I can write down. Also things which nobody knows (or, only a few) like a woway merchandise which was stopped by mr. Levey himself (copyright and such)
So, what are your memories of 10 years WOWAY ??

WOWAY 10 years : Memories
I had just gotten a computer, the first site I went to was wa.com. On the links section was a forum. I figured I'd give it a try. Best Internet related thing I ever did. The newest album then was RWS. We had Ask Bermuda. There were so many people then that aren't here anymore. Sarley, Matt Hodgson, Ash. I was the number one poster for one day, then Scottidog joined. Knocked me out in one day. I want to say it was a little over a hundred posts, no more than 150. I wouldn't be your chasing if it wasn't for this site. I wouldn't have met so many great people if it wasn't for this site. Ive taken leaves of it a few times, but I've always come back because you won't find a better group of people. sure we've all ha fights on here. Yes members have seriously pissed each other off. But we are all here because of our love of Al and TBITB. So thank you everyone for making an Internet home for me. Thank you mods for putting up with our BS on a regular basis. Thank you Al for your music and letting us have this outlet And Whizzi, thank you for your wonderful site that you have worked for 10 years on with nothing more than your love of doing it.

Re: WOWAY 10 years : Memories
I signed up 10 years ago because there was a great need for a moderated (Stan- free) place to discuss all things Al. Bermuda posted about it on AMWA and that was an excellent endorsement.
Memories? My memory of Nick went viral to blogs after I posted it here. I liked that. People should know what a sweet and cool guy he was.
I could always count on an interested group whenever I recounted a concert experience or posted photos.
... And then there was that Evil Avatar
Big thanks, WHiZZi

Gosh, 10 years! Stan-free. Good way to put it, El. I like that this forum is moderated, and when a troll or two does show up, that is dealt with fairly quickly. I kinda miss the band member heads system for number of posts. I had all five, plus, mine were specially designed out of cookie heads from cookies I made that looked like Al and TBitB. (thanks, Bobbi) I was top poster here for a while there. Not sure I still am, but that's not really what this place is about. It's a nice place for me to share my love of Al and TBitB with like-minded folks. I don't visit as often as I used to, but I do like to come by to see pics and catch up. Happy 10th birthday, WOWAY!
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!
Al Team #325

Ah, 2003.
I signed up here in April 2003 on a recommendation from Bermuda, and I think it's safe to say that I've spent more time on this site than any other since then. I've made new friends here, solidified friendships with fans I knew in the pre-WOWAY era, and have had a lot of fun doing so. We've amassed more inside jokes than I have time to list here. We've had our ups and downs here, but I'll love this damn place no matter what. Mike already put it perfectly:
Exactly this. Also, I wouldn't forever be viewed as an anthropomorphic taco if it wasn't for this place! But we are all here because of our love of Al and TBITB. So thank you everyone for making an Internet home for me.
Thanks, WHiZZi, and thanks to all the WOWAY peeps past and present--how about another solid ten years?

Who here remembers the IRC -- whatever that was that pre-dated WOWAY? That was fun for it's time but WOWAY is so much better! I don't lurk, read, and post like I used to (RWS was my heyday), but I always come back here for concert reviews and photos. There's no place like WOWAY!

Re: WOWAY 10 years : Memories
I actually found this forum through Al's website in 2003, when...and it definitely makes sense, considering all of my tourchasing...but, I was looking for a place to talk about the upcoming Kings Island concert in July of 2003. Find out what he was performing, etc.
Throughout the years, I've definitely made some friendships on here. It's been a great place to discuss the concerts. And I've always enjoyed my time here. That's the main reason why I haven't left when times have got rough here recently. Believe me, it has definitely crossed my mind. Many times. But, what always keeps me here are those members that I am friends with, as well as, usually being able to intelligently discuss Al's music and concerts.
And as Mike said best, we are all here because of our love for Al and the Band. So, I also want to thank WOWAY and the community for making this an internet home, of sorts.

I met a bunch of people here and, oh, wait, the love of my life (no, not Al).
