Was either the Al song or the Elton song mentioned in the thread linked to in the first post of this topic?
I don't know, I didn't read it. But this is the thread now, so keep 'em coming!

"That Boy Could Dance" = "Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Rock N Roll)"
Thematically perhaps, but no.

Nah, Funeral has much less screaming. And apart from both having dominant synths, I don't hear any rhythmic similarities. If that's what Al had in mind, he never said it before or after or since.

Could it be "Melanie" or "Attack of the Radioactive Hamsters From A Planet Near Mars" or "Airline Amy"?

I thought of these because they're two rare original tracks I haven't seen or heard anyone assign a definitive sound or musical style to yet.

Plus, they sort of remind me of "Hardware Store" in that they seem to have similar "generic alt rock" feels to them and since we now know that "Hardware Store" was intended to be a POTUSA style parody, I'm thinking something similar could've happened with one of these three.

These guesses are obviously based on lack of association, not a close familiarity with Sir Elton's work.

No on those, although the Airline Amy target has been correctly identified before. :)

In the original thread where this came up I had guessed "Don't Wear Those Shoes" might have been inspired by "Who Wears These Shoes", but I believe that song was a single for Elton so that can't be it.

Oh, it exists. As does a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFonOVlhBWI&feature=kp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Kind of fun, in an odd way, but yeah....mostly forgettable for Elton.

Darn, I'm not the biggest Elton John aficionado, so this is tough. But I always like a good mystery.
