The song was recorded or released? Like, if we have a lot of time on our hands, and want to look at the release dates of Elton's albums with possible song choices of Al's, should we go by the year Al's album was released, or the date it was recorded?

Elton's album release date, Al's song recording date. They're probably not the exact day, I'm just going by the month (they're 12y 8m apart.) :hamsters:

George Of The Jungle
Dare To Be Stupid
Cable TV
Slime Creatures From Outer Space
One More Minute
Babalu Music
Since You’ve Been Gone
The Night Santa Went Crazy
I Remember Larry
Syndicated Inc.
Amish Paradise
Gump
Phony Calls
The Alternative Polka
The Ballad Of Kent Marlow
White & Nerdy
Do I Creep You Out
Handy

These are all the songs (including parodies and style parodies which are obviously ruled out) that fall under that 12 year and 8 months apart rule. Have fun!

Rule out George, DTBS, OMM, Babalu, SYBG, TNSWC, all parodies and polkas, that leaves Cable TV and both of which have been mentioned. And Bermuda won't answer unless we guess both songs, so what songs came out 12 years 8 months before them?

Ok, based on Bermuda's info, my guess is: Cable TV was supposed to be a style parody of Hercules.

I know Cable TV was ruled out earlier in this thread but after cross-referencing all the release dates of Elton John's albums with the recording dates on the mothership, Honky Chateau + Cable TV were the only ones that lined up that made any logical sense. And Hercules comes the closest to Cable TV to my ear.

(Why yes, I AM newly unemployed, how did you guess?)

Yes, FINALLY!

I know that's an educated guess based on the mathematical info I gave, but do you actually hear how Cable TV was trying to be Hercules, but didn't quite get there?

Discuss...

Congrats, Remmy! After Bermuda gave his amount of time between the Elton release date and the Al recording date, I did a quick overview/search of what matched up, though I don't know if I would have made that last step even if I had more time.
