Your Al collection

Post by Elvis »

What are some of the items that you have in your personal Al collection that you consider to be rare, unusual, uncommon, unique, and notable? Also, which one piece of Al memorabilia would you consider to be "The Holy Grail" among collectors? Also, is there anything that you do not have in your collection, that you would love to have, but just can't seem to track down or find anywhere?

Given that there are a literal handful of albums in a few formats, and that I have almost 1,500 audio/video items in the collection, I'd say that most of it is at least uncommon, and certainly some of the non-US items would be considered rare or unusual (other countries can apparently cook up whatever product version/format that they deem fit for sale.) And I do have a list of items that I know exist, but haven't been able to find... yet. At least knowing about them allows me to list them in the discography.

But I have much more than just released or promo materials. Maybe the coolest is Al's original accordion case, which sports his name on a blue Dymo label. Unfortunately, I fitted it with a rack to perform on the Tomorrow Show, so it's been permanently altered. But, in a cool and appropriate way I guess! The whole archive is really intended for Al and Suzanne, and eventually Nina, who will either be grateful, or resentful... it's a TON of stuff!!
