Playing Alone

Post by QuantumError »

Hello again Jon!
I was wondering about your attitude on practicing playing the drums.
How often do you play, whether practicing or just for fun? (As in, let's say, in between a tour finishing up and the next time you make it back into the studio to start laying down your parts)..How often do you play on your own? Do you have songs you like playing along with to keep you fresh for upcoming gigs or projects or do you ever just come up with your own things to play?

I play in several bands, so I don't need to practice in order to keep in shape. But I do practice when it's time to learn something, or if too much time goes by without a gig (which is rare.) So I might be practicing specific parts, or just play to various CDs - oldies, New Wave, Alice Cooper... it varies. Drumming is drumming for me, it doesn't really matter what the music is.
