Re: 1980's concert
I saw Al in the 80s as well when the Monkees closed for him. I was well aware of who Al was. I first saw the video for Eat It at an elementary school skating party. First album I bought was DTBS but quickly went back and got his previous releases. I saw Al again for the OTDE tour in Indianapolis. Considering we did not have cable growing up and we obviously did not have the internet, I joined CPFOA to get the latest on Al news. I had to rely on the newspapers and radio ads for concert dates and I'm sure I missed some opportunities to see him live.

I'm pretty old. Not as old as Al, but old. I was a kid in the 80s, and considered Al a novelty artist.
How old was that last signature? I mean, really?

Re: 1980's concert
I was born the same year as album number 1, 1983... didnt hear my first Al song until 89 "I Love Rocky Road" which I then became an instant die-hard fan... didn't see him live until 1999 when he played the Evergreen State Fair in my hometown of Monroe, WA. But on the note of shows from the 1980's I do have a cd of a complete live set he played in 1984 in support of In 3-D!!
...our neighbors septic tank was the closest thing we had..

Now that I remember, I have seen one particular concert from the 80s. It was the first one he used a fat suit for, and the audience reaction was priceless.
