This sounds very interesting. I'm looking forward to...whatever it is.

But...not to tell the mods how to do their jobs, but since we have a brand new, shiny "The Band" subforum, shouldn't this thread be moved to there?

In all fairness, not everyone visits the Band sub-forum. I myself have never been there, so it would be a long time before I heard about this. But I do think it could be moved there now that it's been up here for a while, that way the people who want to read it know its there.

Very intriguing to say the least. I've never been interested in exploring their solo projects, but all of TBITB working together without Al is definitely something I've been interested in hearing. (Nothing against Al of course, but I'm sure they could produce some fine serious music)

But yeah, this belongs in the band forum.

And yes, that's absolutely true. But you may be missing the point of my initial post about this proposed project.

My point is, if with this project they are trying to distinguish themselves as their own multitalented entity as a band [which of course they ARE], as opposed to being known simply as "Weird Al's cover band", wouldn't the LAST instrument you'd be likely to hear on such a collaboration by the band be the accordion? I mean, Jim's work with Hawaiian slack key guitar is about as polar opposite as you can get from Al [apart from the "Hawaiian" shirt connection, of course].

I'm just saying, if they're indeed doing their own non-Al project, why would they consider using an instrument so closely associated with Al in the project? The obvious answer is, they probably won't. My question then is, if that's the case, why have an odd unrecognizable accordion tune playing on your teaser page??

Or am I just overthinking this as usual?

My brain hurts ... X*

Oh, one more thing ...

What is the mothership? I always that when people talked of the mother ship, they were talking about Weirdal.com.

Yup. The Mothership = weirdal.com

Because, you know, Al is a alien, I guess.

Maybe, but suppose they just felt it fit the music?

Considering that the website is alsband.net and they are literally called "Al's Band" on said website, they're hardly trying to shy away from the Al connection. Besides, after 27 years, it's inevitable that some of Al's influence rubbed off on them (and vice versa).
