The show in Pasadena was delightful. It was held in the main room of the library (Hastings Branch) and Jim played Akaka Falls, Imagine, Little Grass Shack, Kohala No... oh there were many more, but my memory is slow. It was all lovely, of course. The crowd was large, and since it was in a library there were a lot of mesmerized children sitting on the floor. Jim was eventually joined by two lovely hula dancers, and the kids in the library had a great time dancing with them.
All the kids learned to say 'Mahalo!" I loved watching them - even the smallest toddlers enjoyed the music.
We ran into a few serious slack key fans as well.
It was a real treat for me to be able to catch this show, as I live on the east coast. I was in LA for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and was thrilled when this date appeared on Jim's calender.
Pictures are up on facebook, I think the settings require you to be a friend of mine, or a friend of a friend... so if you're a friend of Kimo, you should be able to access the album.
