I think it's great hearing the instrumental and then hearing Bela bark and later hear Haw haw haw haw!

Well, why would they credit Jon with laughs if the French one wasn't him?? You can barely hear the one before the song starts. Some think that one is Dweezil. Jon, is it you doing that wonderful French laugh? "Inquiring minds like mine wanna know!"

Im not familiar with Frank Zapper, but after a few listens to this song, i really love it now.

My favourte parts of the song are..

"I couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel"

and

"Sign my poodle, s'il vous plaƮt"

Hemenene humenene himenene homenene

Poodle... poodle..."

*Edit* Oops, i meant Zappa, silly me.

I'm looking forward to a collaboration at some point between Frank Zapper and Wierd All Yankovich.

Now, "Genius in France" is as close as Frank Zappa and Weird Al will ever get because Frank is no longer with us, but we all know that misprints and typos live on forever in ignominny.. ignimony.... igni... oh, forget it. :sleepy:

My opinion

This is my 2 cents worth about this song:

From reading amazon.com reviews, this is how it appears:

Those who have no clue about the whole Zappa thing have two opinions about the song:

1) They hate it because he is bashing the French.

2) They love it because he is bashing the French.

Those who know who Zappa is have one opnion:

This is a great hommage to Zappa, and Al is a genius. (I'm in that category.)

I've only listened to a few Zappa songs, mostly "Dancing Fool" and "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" and this is very much like both of them.

As for the French bashing, I personally approve of the French, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the song. Actually, Zappa himself would probably have an opinion like the one presented in the song.

From looking at this album, it looks like Al is stearing more towards original songs and away from parodies. This is a good decision, because it doesn't take that much talent to make a parody, and the originals, on this album at least, are better.
