Wasnt Al supposed to have the song Buddy Holly in this polka..but Weezer changed their minds. Does anyone know why Weezer changed their minds?

Yeah, I think that's the story. I'm not sure why Weezer didn't let Al do it, however.

Definitely my favorite polka by Weird Al. My friend's is Polka Power, but that doesn't matter.

Yes, that's correct. In fact, if you read the liner notes, Al even thanks the band. Also, the length of the song is incorrect because the "Buddy Holly" section was cut AFTER the album inserts were printed.

Al got a small amount of revenge on ALMUSIC when he has a viewer write in requesting that they play "Buddy Holly" by Weezer. To which Al replies, "Um...No, they suck!"

Actually, I like Weezer, and I really wish that song was still in the polka. From their videos, they seem to have a really decent sense of humor, so I don't understand what their deal was with that. That might be a good Ask Al question, but who knows when it'll be answered...

 I saw that! that was pretty funny!

But, you're right. that would be a good question for Ask Al.

I like Weezer, too.

"Buddy Holly" by Weezer was originally in the Alternative Polka. In fact, it was completely recorded, and we were about to do the final mix when we got a call from Weezer's management - apparently the song's writer, Rivers Cuomo, decided for whatever reason that he didn't want his song in my medley after all, so at the very last minute (after the "special thanks" had already been printed on the CD and cassette booklets) we had to physically cut the song out of the medley. I'm still kind of bummed about it - it sounded really cool.

I hope someday we'll be able to hear it, either as a bonus track somewhere or maybe the Dr. Demento show.

Thanks, Dave. Now I remember seeing that.

It's a shame Rivers didn't want it in there. I bet it did sound cool.
