Well, this'll be an interesting poll, because we all have different senses of humor and we were all different ages when we heard it.

What did you feel when you first heard Al's Christmas masterpiece, Christmas at Ground Zero?

Some people were scared or horrified that Al would do that song. It's obviously a song that caused a lot of trouble when it came out with radio stations and Scotti Bros (Who wouldn't foot the bill for a video). Of course, hopefully, those people soon came around to see the brilliance of the song. But others were able to see it right away.

I didn't really get the joke for a while, partly because I didn't know what "Ground Zero" was and I didn't have a whole lot of knowledge about the subject matter. The repetive nature of the music kind of irritated me as well. Of course, now I love the song.

What do I vote?

Too many years ago to remember. I probably laughed.

Well, I first heard C@GZ shortly after 9/11, so I initially thought "Is it a reference to that?" I soon found out that it wasn't- just about world annhialation in general, and was able to enjoy the sick humor guilt-free.

When I first heard it, I was about 8 or 9, and didn't understand it. So...I really didn't care.

It's never been a favorite. Not because I'm offended or anything, but I just never thought it was a brilliant comedy masterpiece.

I thought it was amusing when I first heard it, but then I didn't hear it for the first time in December. To properly appreciate C@GZ, you have to listen to it after spending two or three days in a row in crowded, tinsel-infested shopping malls. Then you realize it's brilliant and somehow deeply soul-satisfying.

When I was maybe 11, my cousin Robert put that song on a mix tape he made for me of funny Christmas songs. I liked that one a lot. :-)

I recently was wondering if that song would now be even more taboo than it already was, because of the unfortunately specific new connotations of the phrase "Ground Zero"....
