I didn't care. I didn't like the song, but I didn't hate it. Although, I do think it is funny when he's singing in a happy voice and saying "It's the end of all humanity, no more time for last minute shopping, it's time to face your final destiny."

I thought the song was ok but I HATED the music video. The Night Santa Went Crazy was MUCH better. Even thought it doesn't have a music video

Perhaps one of the funniest lines he's ever written. It would make a festive card, no?

I've always liked it. Especially when I'm in the mall. I had never seen the video, though, until I got my Ultimate Collection. I found it disturbing and kind of a sad commentary on how readily we'll all blow each other up when we could be enjoying Santa-time. Great black humor.

I recently was wondering if that song would now be even more taboo than it already was, because of the unfortunately specific new connotations of the phrase "Ground Zero"....

Dr. Demento rightfully pulled it from his usual Christmas playlist in 2001 and 2002, but it's resurfaced (And is doing quite well on the show).
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

It was the very first video Al directed himself. I thought the montage of clips was very clever.

Speaking of C@GZ, does anyone know what particular song(s) were the focus of the "style" of the song? It's a Christmas song, obviously, but there are many styles of Christmas music. Personally, I think it sounds a bit like a combination of "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Jingle Bell Rock."

Like Algonacchick said, I believe it's really a style parody of the mid-60s Christmas records produced by Phil Spector. Heavy on the bells, Wall of Sound-esque production, all that stuff.
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

OK, maybe I didn't really think it was the absolute "best Christmas song ever", but that was the closest choice to my reaction, so that's what I voted for.
"Wow, another triple negative!"
