George Fest: Official Live Recording to be Released 2/27/16
(Moved to this thread from its own.)
Some of you may have seen some chatter and videos about Al's performance at George Fest, a concert held back in 2014 in tribute to the great Beatle George Harrison. (A while back, it was discussed on this forum here, and also briefly mentioned in this post.)
Now, the entire concert is being officially released-- with much better sound quality than those YouTube videos that have been floating around. The grand finale, which includes Al, can be listened to right now below!
Youtube
(Al is at 2:23)
It will be released on February 26, 2014, and will include an entire cover of George Harrison's "What is Life," sung by Al. Personally, I can't wait. It will be available for release as a 2xCD/DVD set, a 2xCD/BluRay set, and a triple 180 gram vinyl LP. Of course, it will also be available digitally from the usual places.
Is anyone else looking forward to this release as much as I am? For those of you who haven't seen them yet, here are videos of Al's performances at George Fest:

Finally, since I know that not all of you are pirating hooligans, here are some links for the pre-order:

CD/Blu-Ray (Two Audio CDs and one HD Blu-Ray disc): Pre-Order CD/Blu-Ray
CD/DVD (Two Audio CDs and one SD DVD): Pre-Order CD/DVD
Amazon Digital (MP3 Format, 256kbps, Variable Bit Rate): Pre-Order Digital
Even More Options (All sorts of combinations and bundles of the above products. Knock yourself out!): Pre-Order More Stuff

I'm in. Is this the first official release of a "Serious Al" Yankovic song?

As far as I know, it is. He has performed "serious" songs live before ("Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear" by The Carpenters, "Song for the Dumped" by Ben Folds, et cetera), but none have been officially recorded and released that i can think of.anthontherun wrote:I'm in. As you're complimenting his cover of the song and not his butt, I think you're on the right topicHeds wrote:waiting for alicia to say "GET TO YANKOCHICK CENTRAL NOW YOU PIG"

Forst official release of Al singing a serious song, but I wouldn't call it a "Serious Al" Yankovic song since it's not his compositionanthontherun wrote:I'm in. Is this the first official release of a "Serious Al" Yankovic song?

Having tracks from both Al and Brian Wilson/Al Jardine on the album makes this even more epic.

Al posted a snippet on his Instagram:

It looks (and sounds) really good.
Edit: Found the video of the full song over here:
