Here's a PDF of a newspaper review of a Weird Al/Dr. Demento show at MIT in 1984. That's pretty early.

I have some early tour bootlegs. One is from '83, when Al toured with Dr. D's show. The other is from '85, I believe. Al did play accordion and keyboard, and did equally well with both instruments. :D He even sawed a woman in half as part of LAS. hehe!
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Well, they brought this woman out on a gurney, the lights dimmed, a chainsaw was heard, and when the lights came up, the gurney was in two pieces. It was great! He also crawled around on his belly toward the edge of the stage near the end of the song. This was still the studio version of the song, mind you. Lace wristbands and several necklaces were worn with the scrubs. :inlove:

Al did play either piano or accordion in every song except for one or two songs which were in the medley. And I was surprised at how many people Al had on the stage doing instruments and singing....
