Re: french
the whole thing against france is stupid. The people of france are just thinking what the government tells them to think. Just like the people in america did.
Thinking what the government tell them to think? Whaaayt? Since when does anyone in this country listen to a single thing the govenment says about the Iraq war besides the handfull of pro-War people like me? They've dissagreed with pretty much everything. Even in France not everyone believes the government, only 1/3rd of them wanted the US to lose the Iraqi war (which I still believe is the most anti-American thing ever said!) Now I'm off to blame the French on something else.

No one likes us, don't know why . . .
even our old friends put us down
Let's drop the big one, see what happens . . .
Boom goes London, boom Paris (PEAR-EEE)
more room for you and more room for me
Think how peaceful it will be
everybody will be free
(Randy Newman, political science)
Now we probably have done enough political talk for an Al board, I would like to get back to how GIF is an homage to zappa. But as long as pro-war people speak their mind, I will too. That is what free speech is all about. What, should free speech be limited to speech that is not against the government or not allowed during wartime (which could concievably go on forever)? Patriotism is not blindly following whatever your government tells you, it is standing up for what you believe is right.
Some people thought the war was right, some didn't. And the French government's reasons for not going to war may or may not have been pure or driven by money concerns. But the majority of French people and most people around the world, including America, were against the war. Through media hype many Americans may have been brought to the prowar side, or at least confused enough to not know what to think.
polls are usually unreliable, depending on the question that is asked different polls can have very different results. Even though polls came out saying most Americans supported the war, most people I talked to were against it. And I live in a pretty conservative area with a lot of Republicans. Someone told me that the question that was asked was actually 'do you support your president and troops in a time of war?" Well of course, who is going to say no to that? That doesn't mean you were in favor of the war in the first place.
And speaking of polls, a recent one said only 44% of people from Illinois want to see him reelected, exactly the same percentage that don't want him re-elected (the rest of them are undecided). So maybe he isn't that popular after all, despite his high approval rating.
Sorry, I will get off my soapbox now.

I don't know if this is a legit connection, but could "Genius in France" but Al's unique way of dissing the French from their opposition to the US at the beginning of the Iraq war? Example...."a little more to the left boys"....its well known that the French are about a far to the "left"---liberal, as you can get!! What do you think?

Actually he touched up upon this topic in Ask Al a while ago. He wrote that song before dissing the French was popular and he really has nothing against the French. ききます
