Depends. What exactly would we be discussing in an "Al-oholics discussion thread"?

Well, it'd be kinda like weirdal.com Chit Chat.

No offense to Marty and his great site, but if we did that, everyone would be asking "Why can't my Al site have a discussion thread?"

I know we were considering doing a generic Al Fansites discussion thread a while back; not sure whatever happened to that.
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

Well with the awards and the fan website....maybe we could start that up again, as long as it wasn't another forum that would compete with WHiZZi's.

Considering WHiZZi doesn't want people advertising their websites (or plugging other people's sites) except in the Links section, I don't think that would happen.

If there's something earthshattering on an unofficial site that you just have to share with everybody, you can do so in the Links Forum or the Hangin' 27 topic.

We do have one here.

If I recall correctly, that topic is more about what makes a good/bad Weird Al site. Not for generic discussion of the various webpages. I guess we could expand it to discussions of the various sites. But we've generally just discussed updates and stuff in the Hanging 27 topic or Generic Al Blather. I tend to agree with Dave

What about a topic about a parody of You Might Be A Redneck If...

Called:

You Might Be An Al Fan When...

:D
I'm simple like this, just as simple can be.

I think we have a topic almost exactly like that somewhere around here...I believe it's in General Chat.

There's that, but probably the bigger question is if it's really necessary for there to be a separate thread for one or more of the fan sites, as it seems when they're in appropriate context they all get mentioned sooner or later anyway.

No doubt a thread based on, just for a random example, Yankovic! would comprise of a few posts or maybe a very general discussion to get things going, and then that would be about it.
