Oh wow. That would be unfortunate. I guess Al couldn't release that on the internet if it was pulled from the album simply because of the sheer irony of the titleKenny @ Jun 14 2006, 01:29 AM wrote: Don't feel like reading through 30 pages of posts to double check if it was already officially confirmed, but I spoke to animator Bill Plympton at an animation festival last week and asked him about the video he did for the new album and he told me that he indeed animated a video for "Don't download this song" which is a parody of "We are the world". He also said that there were some troubles with the record company and that last he heard it was kinda uncertain that it would be released. He also told me that he was quite proud of the video and thought it was one of his best works to date.
Just thought I'd share. Don't shoot me if it's old news![]()

Yeah, I would have to think that Bill was referring to "You're Pitiful". It seems very unlikely that Al would have problems with two songs. I was kind of wondering if one of these animated videos could possibly have been for "You're Pitiful", but I was definitely hoping it wasn't. I wonder if Al would put the video online too if that was the case.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

It's also very unlikely that someone who animated an entire music video for a song would forget which song he animated forKevbo1987 @ Jun 14 2006, 10:00 AM wrote: Yeah, I would have to think that Bill was referring to "You're Pitiful". Kenny said that Bill never said which video might not be released. He didn't specifically say that "Don't Download This Song" was the video that Al was having issues with.iisryan27 @ Jun 14 2006, 02:31 PM wrote: It's also very unlikely that someone who animated an entire music video for a song would forget which song he animated for![]()

It wouldn't be that bad, iisryan. Maybe the irony of the title would make the fact that you are downloading it even funnier.iisryan27 @ Jun 14 2006, 11:54 AM wrote: Oh wow. That would be unfortunate. It seems like since the Napster days, artists and labels are being way more careful about parodies as well. In addition, since the Coolio days Al is being way more careful about getting permission. The two combined means more problems for getting Al's parodies released properly.

Is it possible Bill only heard about trouble with a song, and just assumed that it was that one? I doubt it, but you never know, right? And this is another mention of DDTS since Al denied it in the WalMart interview. So is it possible that Al is really trying to throw us off? Or is Bill Plympton wrong? Or is it a plot between the two of them to mess with our heads?

It's good to see some lively discussion on the spoilers board again.
But here's a question: If the "only originals have videos" theory is correct, which I think it is, then why does "Don't Download This Song" have a video? I'd be willing to venture that maybe all but one or two have animated videos and the others will have live action videos. Just a guess...
And, Greg, I completely agree. I think it'd be a big mistake to have a lead-off video be animated. Al's videos are too good to miss out seeing on MTV yet again.

Okay, let's assume for a moment that this "We Are the World" parody is on the new ALbum (as it may very well be). I was thinking at work... (and there's really nothing better to do while I'm collecting garbage, vacuuming floors, and scraping gum off the bottoms of desks), what if this is more than just a song parody. Lemme 'splain. "We Are the World" was a benefit song for starving people Africa, correct? This could be a benefit song for starving musicians; poor because of file sharing. But done comically, of course. What do you think?
