Well, it could be. But why recognize one parent with initials and the other with a partial birthdate, instead of two sets of initials or two sets of dates? I'm stickin' with my theory that the initials are Nina's and the "027" is a shout-out to us.Bruce the Duck @ Jul 27 2006, 02:31 AM wrote: Well, some have suggested that the 027 is a reference to Mary because her birthday is February 7th.
You could look at the "Straight Outta Lynwood" title as a tribute to his parents. For Al to have come from there, and have turned out to be the person he is, definitely IS a testament to the love & care with which Nick and Mary raised their boy.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Well, I see your point, but I think there's a big difference between doing a style parody of a very obscure group and adding a subtle but touching tribute to one's parents who passed away tragically.MarsBar101 @ Jul 27 2006, 10:55 AM wrote: Just kidding, but I think the reason he did one of each is because to do that would make it obvious he is mentioning his parents. And judging from The Rugburns incident a while back, I`d say Al doesn`t enjoy being obvious.

This is very true. SOL (see, I'm abbreviating it already!) is more likely to have an unambiguous acknowledgement of his parents, probably in the liner notes.CatraDhtem @ Jul 27 2006, 04:31 PM wrote: I think there's a big difference between doing a style parody of a very obscure group and adding a subtle but touching tribute to one's parents who passed away tragically.

Or it could be all of the above-a 27 reference, Nina's initials [if indeed that is Nina's full actual monogram], a reference to Mary's birthday and a reference to Nick.Orthography Enthusiast @ Jul 28 2006, 08:47 AM wrote: This is very true. I see, perhaps, a black bag.algonacchick @ Jul 23 2006, 03:04 PM wrote: Hmm, where is this thing hanging off the leash? I don't see anything hanging off it. I see the strap wrapped around Al's wrist, and two leather straps leading down to the dog. I guess a dog like that needs that extra strap. It's interesting to read what other people are seeing.
He's probably walking the dog.
