Now I'm torn, because while it would be the perfect ironic opportunity to put Don't Download This Song up for download, I've been really excited to hear White and Nerdy. I just can't wait to see what Al does with it.

I think the fact that Al is making it a free download doesn't really point towards one or the other. It just means Al wants word to spread.

Here's an argument that I haven't seen brought up yet.

Why isn't the news of the DDTS video premiere posted on the Mothership or Al's MySpace? The Yahoo site is an official site. The video has been approved by Al and his label for premiere on that site. It's not some illegal bootleg site. So why isn't Al promoting it in any way?

My guess is because the song premiering on MySpace IS "Don't Download This Song," and Al doesn't want to spoil the irony of releasing the song as a free download by giving away the title early. By advertising the Yahoo premiere, he'd essentially blow the joke. I think he's waiting for after the song premieres on MySpace to start advertising the video's premiere.

With all the evidence we've seen so far, I would be EXTREMELY surprised if the song released today is "White and Nerdy."

I stayed up all night trying to figure this out, as well as the excitement keeping me up...eventually I just gave up, snuck into the basement, played The Debut Album as loudly as I could without waking my mom/the neighbors up, and danced like a maniac.

you're allowed to have all of them up for download if you want. he probably just doesn't want you're pitiful stealing the 1st single's thunder.
