Vegetables was also the first thing that popped into my mind. Not so much for the actual music, but the general vibe.

Anyway, the beginning reminds me a lot of God Only Knows.

Yep, the beginning definitely reminded me of "God Only Knows."

I also got a "Puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh- puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-pumps your blood!" (a song Potsie sang on Happy Days) vibe during the middle.

Yup. When I first heard it that was the first thing I thought. Which makes a lot of sense considering he was a Beach Boy.

Brian Wilson was the uber Beach Boy, the songwriting genius who made the whole thing go. I saw him with Paul Simon in 2000, and I admire his courage in even going onstage after all the rocky places his life has taken him.

I love the idea of a love song to the pancreas (which might be a nod to Brian Wilson's health preoccupations, but Al has had occasional pancreas-related humor before-- let's face it, it's just a funny organ), but I think that what will save this song from becoming skip-button fodder over the long term is the music. Like with Hardware Store, I like to hear Al tackling something musically complicated.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I really liked this song. I thought the opening lines sounded familiar.
