Hey, Bob. Just because there are people who can't listen to WSD because of the violent nature of the song, it doesn't mean they aren't fans. It just means they are sensitive. Al has a bit of a sick and twisted sense of humor, but not all of his fans share it. It's really not very nice to say stuff like that about our members. I don't have a problem with the song, but I can see where the folks who do are coming from. We just have to accept that not everyone likes every Weird Al song, and for various reasons.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

Well, you're not a "Weird Al" fan then.
Dude, that is the stupidest thing I've heard in quite some time. I guarantee you Tonya has contributed more time and effort to support Al and the band than almost anybody in this forum.
And just who are you do decide who is "a fan" and who isn't? How dare you try to insult Cinnamon!
An example of why I don't like Weasel Stomping Day:
KING 10/08/06-Thieves broke into a Seattle pet store and stomped cats and many small animals to death. (Article not linked due to graphic content.)
Guess I'm, according to you, just not a fan of Al's, so I guess I'll have to go hang my head and cry myself to sleep at night until I can live up to your expectations.
AL! You ATE Harvey!? YOU ATE HARVEY/??!!

Well said, sg. You certainly are a big fan of Al's as well, and I know that you deal with animal abuse situations. After reading that news story in your post, I can definitely see why WSD is not a song for you. Cinnamon has done quite a bit for Al, that's true. No one can take away her Weird Al fandom just because she's not a fan of this song. It's a totally ridiculous statement.

On the calendar in the video, the day appears to be the 21st of an unspecified month...but I think the point Al is trying to make is ANY day can be Weasel Stomping Day!Kevbo1987 @ Oct 9 2006, 11:39 AM wrote: Of course, there is no such day as June 31st, so apparently "Weasel Stomping Day" is located somewhere in The Twilight Zone....![]()

People don't have to love every song Al puts out to be considered "true fans." I can honestly say I'm not crazy about Cable TV, Syndicated Inc...a couple of scattered Al songs throughout the years, and for various reasons. Tonya's reasons are valid, and even if she chose not to disclose them, she is completely entitled to her own opinions. I have to say if I'd been in certain circumstances, I might feel differently about the song as well. We don't always have to agree on everything, but being supportive is definitely important. We ALL love Al, or we wouldn't be here-end of story

I took it exactly the opposite: no day. Weasel Stomping Day is always either yesterday or tomorrow, but never today.SmileyGirl87 @ Oct 9 2006, 06:07 PM wrote: On the calendar in the video, the day appears to be the 21st of an unspecified month...but I think the point Al is trying to make is ANY day can be Weasel Stomping Day!![]()
I agree that the idea that someone could be considered "not a fan" for not liking this song is just silly. Cinnamon in particular put in a huge amount of time, care, effort and her very own personal money (especially the Weird Al cookbook she compiled, featuring wacky and wonderful recipes and Too Much Information about Ruben Valtierra) toward raising the fee for Al's future star on the Walk of Fame (next year, hear that committee guys?

My feeling is, anybody who buys any of Al's work and enjoys at least some of it is a fan. Trying to come up with hierarchies of fannishness is a dead-end street.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

We, as the largest group of organized Weird Al fans in the world, need to choose when it is we want to observe Weasel Stomping Day in our world. It is quite apparent that June 31st does not exist. So, should we observe the holiday on June 30th (the last day of June, a logical choice to replace the would-be last day of June), July 1st (the day after June 30th), or both (if we stomp their weasely guts right out from June 30th through July 1st, we'll be sure we don't miss it).Kevbo1987 @ Oct 9 2006, 09:39 AM wrote: Of course, there is no such day as June 31st, so apparently "Weasel Stomping Day" is located somewhere in The Twilight Zone....![]()
