I read an artcile where he said the inspiration for DDTS was from several charity songs, and Hands Across America was one. That's what it reminded me of the most. I wish I could remember were I read it. I think it was linked in this forum.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

DDTS to me is reminiscent of the Simpsons parody of a charity song, Sending Our Love Down The Well.

I'm sure it's been touched on, but Virus Alert. Is that a specific style parody. I've read it's one of SPARKS, but I'm not too familiar with their stuff. Could it be of anything else?

I think Al himself said it was a Sparks style parody. He also said some of his style parodies are of more obscure groups.

ETA: My tempermental dvd player worked today when I put SOL in, and there really is a helicopter on the menu page! *the one with the list of songs*

How did I miss that??

The song that I first thought of when I listened to "Don't download this song" was "We are the world". The line "Once in a while" is a dead ringer for "There comes a time". I started laughing immediately because the joke made total sense.

I had never heard of Sparks before thie either, but with a little searching, you can totally see the connection between virus alert and Sparks. Check out their myspace page and listen to a couple of songs. It appears that they acutally have a new single out. Crazy.

I'm not being condescending, I'm too busy thinking about far more important things you wouldn't understand.

iisryan27 @ Oct 9 2006, 05:42 PM wrote: You know, I noticed two things about Straight Outta Lynwood that kind of broke trends in Al's music.

First of all, with a little room for movement, every song on Straight Outta Lynwood sounds like "typical Al". That is, he didn't really "morph" his voice like he usually does (Isle Thing and Truck Drivin' Song, for some extreme examples). The impression that I've gotten from Al's music in the past is that Al really sounded different on every track that he does. SOL is really the first time when I said, "That's the same singer singing each track the same way" before.

Secondly, I've noticed that SOL doesn't really have any "superhuman" feats. The trend may only exist in my mind, but I've noticed that Al likes to, about once each CD, wow his audience with a "superhuman" musical feat such as the bridge in Hardware Store. Does anyone else agree with me on this one?
even though i hate to admit that my annoying father is right but he pointed out that there wasnt any t.v or food songs like every other cd he has ever made has. When he said that i went to my cd's to look and i was diispointed to see that he was right. But you could maybe argue that stuck in a closet with vannah white isnt a tv song but i kinda is
