We've gotta give Al some credit for creativity here, and not imagine that he's just giving us transcripts. But TitDT does have a feel of real couple-banter. I noticed the same thing in Trash Day. A whole new vein of humor for Al to mine.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I didn't mean to say that Al was being less creative, just that this could have happened to him in real life. I mean, who can say the "liver" part is uncreative?Orthography Enthusiast @ Oct 10 2006, 04:26 PM wrote: We've gotta give Al some credit for creativity here, and not imagine that he's just giving us transcripts. Silly me! These are my confessions... oops, my bad, wrong song.
I had assumed that the Burrito King reference was just a generic made-up name. I should have known better. There IS a Burrito King in Los Angeles, and it's on Sunset, not far away from what might be presumed to be Al's normal stomping grounds.

It would make you gassy, there's no doubt.

Ahhh, the King. Well it's a Taco/Burrito stand that has been since before I was born (1979).
The Burritos consist of meat, heavy pinto beans and pico de gallo. I have to say that the Burrito King's burrito is one of the heaviest burritos that I have ever had. I point to the beans; I have no idea what they do to the beans there but they are extremely dense.

I thought Burrito King was a pretend name in reference to someplace like Burger King or something, too!! Wow, I guess I haven't been around Sunset enough to see that one! Thanks for sharing!

The Ivy (also mentioned in TitDT) is also a real restaurant, touted as "Where the Hollywood elite meet to eat".

And I can't believe Burrito King is real either! Al, taking cues from his natural surroundings?!?
Nah, not him.

(And as for that review??? Sounds like it could write the next three chapters of TiDT, with a slightly different theme..then again, I've never lived in LA..

He does his homework, all right. Now if we could just identify that Drive Thru.
A Jack in the Box that served root beer would fill the bill, but I haven't found one locally yet.
Arby's is the other chain that serves curly fries, but they don't sell cheeseburgers!
BTW, I consider it another example of Al's sneaky humor that comes upon you slowly... the predicament of that poor wife, after Hubby swears he's gonna take her out and vetoes The Ivy (where bunny slippers are doubtless not in the dress code)... they wind up, after a whole series of embarrassing incidents, with only enough food for him, but paid for with her last three bucks.

Maybe he did this purposely, as a type of enigmatic fictional fast food joint?Orthography Enthusiast @ Oct 11 2006, 01:25 PM wrote: He does his homework, all right. Now if we could just identify that Drive Thru.

Honestly, that would be hilarious.

I had heard of The Ivy, I knew that's a real place. Never been, though. I've driven past it, but never eaten there (or been inside it for that matter).
