) Actually, last year I found ways to use two of Al's songs to actually teach some lessons. I already posted about this in another thread (I forget which one). I used Albuquerque to teach my students about writing to and staying on topic when writing. I used (This Song's Just) Six Words Long to teach my students about word choice and variety of words in writing.
Many kids in my class actually went out and got Poodle Hat when it came out after I told them about it!
I also played his music as background music during non-instructional times, such as class parties and end-of-the-year desk cleaning. I realized last year that there are no ALbums that I could play straight through, as they all have SOME material that COULD be considered innappropriate for 8 year olds. So I had to create a mix of Al songs that are "G rated."
