i've never performed any weird al songs at a talent show - i don't sing well enough to do that - but i have performed parodies i've written at a couple of talent shows recently and i got 3rd place in a campus-wide contest for singing parodies there despite blanking out in the middle of a song in the final round

I'm planning on doing a Weird Al medley this year for my talent show. It goes like this: I'd do an intro dedicating it to a man who "walks the thin line of comedy and controversy" and play it up to sound like Eminem (although all of the things I say also have to partain to Al) and start off with Couch Potato (in costume and everything which'll help my Eminemish intro), then I go to A Complicated Song using the cell phone intro Al used in the Poodle Hat Tour, then I'd go to Free Delivery (if my voice doesn't deepen a lot by then...
), Bob, Trash Day, and finish with either Hardware Store or Your Horoscope for Today. I'd have easy to do but very representative as well-thought out 5 second costume changes and props and they wouldn't interupt the song. What do you think?

Oh man I hate it when that happens! I have been singing with a samll band for 6 years and 2 weekends ago we went into Patsy Cline's - "She's Got You" and I totally blanked the first verse. I like the ideas, though. Hopefully, people will be willing to let you do the whole act before passing judgement (as Al said, "Some people just can't take a joke, ya know?").
Bob is the one I question most, since people who don't understand why that song is so special (and don't know who Bob Dylan is) may not get it. But it's up to you, and I think they'll enjoy it either way.

I understand how you got instrumentals for the originals on PH (and the parodies, since you can get the original's instrumental), but how did you find instrumentals for Horoscope For Today?iisryan27 @ Jan 11 2004, 05:58 PM wrote: No actually I've...somehow obtained...the instrumental pieces to these songs.![]()

Yeah, and you would have to have a TV and DVD player to play the instrumental.yo @ Jan 11 2004, 07:32 PM wrote: There's a shortened Horoscope instrumental on the Live DVD... it's not the whole song though.
