Am I right that Rubén was only featured on one track on this entire album?
I wonder why Al decided to use Kim Bullard on Stop Forwarding instead of Rubén.
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.
A lot of songs don't HAVE keyboards on them. The people who played keyboards: Ray Manzarek, Jim "Kimo" West (2 songs), Ruben Valtierra, Taylor Hanson, Kim Bullard. Maybe Al just thought Kim Bullard's sensibility was a better fit, or Ruben was busy that day. But I know Ruben has been described several times in the past as the touring keyboardist. I'm not totally surprised when he doesn't show up on a lot of the album tracks. At least he made it into the band photo.
Yeah, I guess it's just a strange coincidence that so many of the featured artists Al brings on to play on the album are keyboardists. Manzarek and Hanson join Ben Folds on this list.

Dont forget Ruben has many other commitments. He was playing for (I think) Deniece Williams just recently if I recall correctly

I think that's the longest string of positive things I've ever read/heard Ruben say about Al ever. And it's really cool to hear something about his past & his other projects. Viva!
Expect Ethan (@funnyradio) Ullman's archive of his howlingly funny Rubén interview to be archived in the next few days

Jon - Nice article. I finally got a chance to meet Rubén and talk to him. Funny and very nice. He knows who I am because of facebook. That's kinda cool.
Lou- Looking forward to that interview. I didn't catch it before.
Helen- Sweet that Rubén got to sit in with jazz musicians while in Toronto. He's definitely got the chops.
