As I see/hear it, it's a song about a drunk narcissistic jerk trying to seduce also drunk girl using quite disgusting innuendoes, but I don't think it's goes as far as rape.TMBJon wrote:What else needs to be said besides this? The song is pro-rape!

Re: Word Crimes
I don't see it brought up here, but wasn't a Blurred Lines Parody mentioned on the "Comedy Bang! Bang!" podcast when Thicke's father gave permission for Al to parody the song [Blurred Lines]?

Re: Word Crimes
Yeah. I remember thinking at the time that Al seemed a little uncomfortable and hesitant to join in on their jokey parody speculation. In retrospect, we now know it was because he was already working on or had even already recorded a parody of the song by that point and didn't want to give anything away.

I haven't heard the podcast in question, but since it was on Comedy Bang Bang I am guessing it was a bit.Bruce the Duck wrote:Huh? Thicke's father? Alan Thicke? Why would Al get permission from him?
(To avoid confusion or accusations of trolling, I work on the TV show but I have nothing to do whatsoever with the podcast.)

Re: Word Crimes
Slightly off topic, but despite its massive publicity campaign, Robin Thicke's new album has sold only 530 copies in the UK during its first week of sales, which is kind of hilarious. But that's also apparently enough for it to chart at number 200 on the UK charts, which is kind of sad.

"Blurred Lines" is gross. The video is gross. Robin Thicke is gross.
On the plus side, "Word Crimes" is gonna be great, the video will be hilarious, and Weird Al is our Great and Powerful Leader.
