Best Parody Target
Forgetting about the now well-known Weird Al parodies, which of these five original songs do you actually like the most?
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.

Re: Best Parody Target
Not much to choose from here. I have to give it to the Godfather though.
In order:
Living in America
Who's Johnny
Addicted to Love
Ruthless People

Addicted to Love is the best here, though these songs are all pretty weak.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Addicted to Love. There aren't any other real choices aside from James Brown.

Re: Best Parody Target
Fun fact: I jumped up on stage once with my father's covers band and played Addicted to Love with them. I played cowbell.
And for that reason alone, it gets my vote.
(OK, not really....but it's the best of the group for me....granted I did love Short Circuit....)

You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

Ever since I showed my kids (Boy, 7; Girl, 4) Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 they are OBSESSED with "Who's Johnny" and it has made me appreciate "Here's Johnny" a whole lot more. I honestly think it has some pretty funny lines in it.

I'm glad you brought up Short Circuit. It's a very underrated movie - right up there with Gremlins and The Goonies for 80s family comedies, but somehow long forgotten.eleventhirtyfour wrote:Ever since I showed my kids (Boy, 7; Girl, 4) Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 they are OBSESSED with "Who's Johnny" and it has made me appreciate "Here's Johnny" a whole lot more. "Here's Johnny" is similarly often forgotten. It's certainly dated with its subject matter, but for its time, it was extremely clever for Al to focus the song on an irrational obsession with Ed McMahon rather on the Tonight Show or Johnny Carson, which would have been the more obvious route.

Not a big fan of the parody, but I like the original song a lot. I've had a lot of hernias before.
Hey guys, I got this username first ha ha
