Re: Word Crimes
Some new things I just noticed:
- The "Don't be a moran" guy in the video could be a layered joke poking fun at how often an internet comment criticizing grammar contains a grammatical error itself.
- "Syntax you're always mangling" is poor syntax.

Re: Word Crimes
No, the "don't be a moran" guy was based on a photo of a protester holding that exact sign.

Re: Word Crimes
That's why I said it COULD be a LAYERED joke. I get the surface reference, but in the context of the song, the "Don't be a moron" line is criticizing someone's bad grammar. By making it the misspelled sign guy in the video, the critique is now ironic, which happens frequently when people attack grammar mistakes on the internet.TheLazenby wrote:No, the "don't be a moran" guy was based on a photo of a protester holding that exact sign.

That's a good point. The Reddit part is an example of that as well.

Re: Word Crimes
Anderson Cooper had the song on the Ridiculist about misspelling words in protest signage(in this case a building). He also recommended the album!

Haha, great segment! It is funny that the "NO ILLEAGLES" thing happened the week that this album was released.

There's a video out there of some people at a Romney rally in my (fairly small) hometown. It's pretty embarrassing.angela27 wrote:What's not funny is that happened in the county where I live. Sigh.

Re: Word Crimes
Well, the local Facebook group has been having a field day making fun of the "ill eagles". Back in May, there was an incident involving goats that still hadn't died down, and adding the eagles jokes on top of it has made things rather ridiculous. Anyway, for your amusement...
