I'm not at all familiar with Frank Zappa, and I've gotta say that Genius in France has remained consistently very fun to listen to. :)
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I really don't care for Genius in France. If I want some real French bashing there's plenty of other political artists out there.

But then again, maybe "hoping for a good French-bashing" is the wrong mindset to be into to enjoy the song.

You dont need to like FZ to understand or even like the song. Its definately not a French bashing in the political sense, the French are just funny. The song is enjoyable to listen to just because the way it keeps changing types of music. But then again, I am quite biased towards Frank Zappa.

You're right, Minnick. As you know, I don't know much about Zappa but I still like the song. I wish I did get the Zappa references, because I know it would make the song a lot more enjoyable.

I own some Zappa, I love his work, and you can deffinatley hear the influence in GIF...but the song stands very much on it's own. It's highly entertaining and very, very well-done. I also enjoying noticing a new, fun little noise every time I hear it! :D

 Bermuda snorking!
Very tasty!

When I hear the line "I'm stuffed with pastry and drunk with power" I always imagine Al with a "Fat"-like degree of embonpoint.
