I'm really excited to see this video! There's just so much potential.

So it's safe to assume we'll see this video on the View right? I hope it's the whole thing & not spliced between audience reactions, etc.

As someone who hasn't produced music, how can you tell what's autotuned and what isn't?

As an effect there's a pretty distinct, distorted sound. Otherwise it's just supposed to fix little mistakes and you're not really supposed to be able to tell.

Interesting. I've just worked through a few youtube videos, and even a NOVA special from 2009 on it.

I can now pick out the bad offenders. I think a lot of autotune I assumed was intentional voice effects. I'm also still not sure if I could hear more subtle uses.

I really hated the beginning of the song, but I don't know if it's because of residual hate for the original or the fact that it's hard to make out the rest of it, but it got really good really quickly.

I'd describe the effect as the uncanny valley of voice -- my brain knows there's something unnatural going on and it sets off alarm bells.
Listen to the chorus sections of "First World Problems" -- Al and Amanda's voices are processed to be so perfectly in harmony with each other that they lose a little bit of that imperfect human quality and end up sounding vaguely synthlike.

HI DIVA!
College and grad school swallowed me up for a while there. Glad to be back, and am really floored that people still remember me
